For many of us the garden is the place where we take the refuge during the hot weather, where we spend our free time or where we exercise our gardening skills. However, everyone knows that a nice garden means planning, maintenance and work.
Planning and making your garden by yourself is a great project. It is not difficult at all and the results can be great. More on, this project is not expensive at all, and it can offer you great satisfactions.

Things you need

• Gardening tools
• Gardening soil
• Gardening catalogue
• Knee pad

Step 1: Determine your garden’s purpose

Before starting the project you have to determine the purpose of your garden. If you want one for beauty then you have to decide its shape, color and size. More on, if you would like it to attract humming birds or butterflies you have to decide, which flowering shrubs you will use. The gardening catalogue will help you a lot to make up your mind.

Step 2: Choose the location

Now you have to decide where you will place your garden. Choose a place with lots of sun, close from a source of water and where it can be appreciated. It is not recommended to grow a garden near the dog run or near the driveway because the cars will drive on it.

Step 3: decide what flower you will use

Taking into account that there are annual and perennials flowers decide which type you would like to plant in your garden. Take into account the fact that the perennials become thicker and bigger every year, and that you have to plant the annuals every year.

Step 4: Weather conditions

Weather conditions are very important when it comes about a garden because the plants should be chosen depending on these conditions. For example, if the area of your garden is windy you have to opt for those plants that tolerate the wind. If your garden area is sunny choose those plants that like the sun, and so on.

It is also very important to choose the plants that require almost the same treatment. For example, choose the flowers that need the same quantity of water, the same soil nutrient and so on. If you will plant a flower that likes sun and water near a flower that prefers shade you will not be able to treat both properly and one of them will die.

Step 5: Plan the arrangements

You cannot plant the flowers at random if you want to have a nice garden. For example, the tall flowers are planted in the back, then you have to plant the middle sized flower and the smaller plants are in front. If you want to make a circle, plant the taller plants in the middle graduating down to the shortest flowers.

Step 6: Plant the flowers

If you have decided all these points you can start to plant the flowers. Make sure that you water them on time, and that you give them the proper nutrients.
