Everyone wants to see his/her garden beautiful and lucrative. To give the best look to your garden, there is an important role of the garden furniture. If the color and shapes of the furniture are well matched with the appearance of the garden, then it will be amazing. To keep the garden furniture in well and glittering condition, you should paint them with suitable colors. Following the steps that are stated here you can paint the furniture by yourself.
Tools and Materials
• Paint brushes
• Wood primer
• Enamel paint
• Mineral spirits
• Wood filler
• Sandpapers
• Tack cloth
• Gloves, goggles, and dust mask
Step 1 – Take the furniture to a suitable place
Before painting the furniture you should take them to a suitable place to protect them from dust and unwanted rainfall. Otherwise during the painting time dust or leaves may fall on the furniture and spoil the painting.
Step 2 – Sand the furniture properly
Bring the furniture in a suitable place and sand them properly. Use medium sandpaper to remove old paint and other stains from the furniture. Sand the furniture until you get the desired smoothness. While sanding the furniture use the protective gear and gloves to protect you from dust.
Step 3 – Clean the furniture thoroughly
After sanding the furniture, you have to clean them. Clean the furniture in such a way that no dust or debris remains there. Then use wood filler to make the surface of the furniture smooth. After applying the wood filler, sand them again and check that the furniture is cleaned and smoothed.
Step 4 – Apply a coat of wood primer
Now apply a coat of wood primer at this stage of painting. Use proper size brushes to apply the primer. After applying a liberal coat of wood primer allow an hour or two to dry the primer. This primer will provide an extra layer of protection to the furniture.
Step 5 – Sand the furniture again
When you will see that the primer gets dry on the furniture, then it’s time to sand the furniture again. This time, use light sandpaper to give an excellent smoothness to the furniture. Use tack cloth to clean the sanded furniture. Clean them thoroughly. If you think that desired smoothness is not achieved then sand the furniture again and then clean them again.
Step 6 – Paint the furniture
Now the furniture is ready for painting. Take perfect size brushes to apply the first coat of paint. Use high quality paint so that the paint can dry within an hour or two. Low quality paint takes too much time to dry. For more caution allow more hours to dry the paint. When you will become sure that the first coat gets dry, then apply the second coat, and allow the coat to dry. You can apply more coats if needed for more shininess.
Step 7 – Allow several hours to dry properly
After the final coat of paint, allow sufficient time to dry the paint. During the time of painting you should take care that dust or debris is not falling on the surface of the furniture. When the paint gets dry take the furniture to the garden.
